Chinese army adopts first-ever fitness exercise with tai chi features

(ECNS) -- The General Political Department (GPD) of the People's Liberation Army is promoting its first-ever fitness exercise with strong Chinese characteristics to boost health among soldiers, Liberation Army Daily reported.

The exercise, divided into eight sections and lasting for about five minutes, borrows movements from traditional tai chi and popular dance practices.

It was piloted in over 10 army units across Beijing last year, gaining a positive responses from soldiers. It's simple to learn and looks good in performance.

The GPD has notified all army units to promote the exercise.
