(Ecns) -- A small old village in north China's Shandong Province has confused many visitors due to its alley system, according to reports by Shandong Network Radio-Television Station.
Chaoyang Village in Jiyang County, Jinan City lies across a north-south-led road. Most of its alleys are believed to be parallel or perpendicular to the main way.
Visitors say this pattern should make it easier for them to sense direction, though reality turns out to be the opposite.
Some local villagers say they even feel time running faster in the village. It's added that all four facades of houses in the village are bathed in sunlight, a rare case compared to other places.
An investigation by reporters revealed that there's a 45 degree angle between the village's alley network and the main road, which is believed to be the answer to the entire mystery.
The speicial design of houses has a history of at least several hundred years, according to villagers there.
