China's commemorations of the 70th anniversary of victory in World War II were held on Thursday's morning, with 30 heads of state and government leaders present.

The Czech Republic's first lady, Ivana Zeman, rushed to Silk Street following the event. It's reported that she cancelled a visit to Jingshan Park, which had been scheduled ahead of visiting the market.

During her two-hour shopping spree, Zeman spent over 10, 000 yuan on pearls, scarves, handcrafts and bags.

Pakistani President Mamnoon Hussain's wife also paid a visit to Silk Street on the following day, purchasing bags, silk scarves, and 8 pairs of shoes.

Silk Street, a symbol of Beijing, is famous among foreign visitors. Foreign politicians, including former U.S. president George Bush, former Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai, and former Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra have all visited the market.
