(ECNS) - Beijing is set to shut down uncertified businesses and services in its six major districts amid moves to highlight the city's role as capital, according to the municipal business authority.
The city is reviewing more than 160 regulations and standards guiding convenience stores, restaurants, vegetable stores, beauty salons, housekeeping agencies and recycling services, said Yan Ligang, commissioner of the Beijing Municipal Commission of Commerce (BMCC).
Beijing also plans to close or upgrade some 150 markets that don't fit its goals as the nation's capital. In the first half of 2015, 60 markets were halted, while another 10 were upgraded.
