(ECNS) -- A young couple interning for the same company have been fired after allegedly flaunting their romantic relationship at work, according to Changjiang Times on Thursday.

The public display of affection took place on the morning of June 17 when a woman fed her boyfriend a corn cob while at work, which was caught on surveillance camera. After receiving an administrative warning, the young couple was eventually fired for "disturbing the office by showing off romance."

Infuriated over the move, the woman complained online. "How boring! We just showed a bit of romance - so what! Our older colleagues were simply jealous!"

The couple continually took pictures and posted them online, bringing an abrupt end to their intern careers, while causing quite a stir in the office.

"Couples at my company all do it undercover while you showed off your romance. How daring!" said one Internet commenter.

Someone else wrote, "It is already disturbing enough that couples feed each other in college canteens, and you did corn cobs in the office. Do you want us to live on or not?"

It is suggested that fresh graduates could mishandle interpersonal relationships in the office. It also takes time for them to get to grips with office regulations. Companies are advised to better advise new workers before resorting to disciplinary action.
