(ECNS) -- A metal object alleged by some netizens to be a component from the right door of a Boeing 777 fell off a plane and crashed through the roof of a temporary structure at a local plant in Shanghai on Tuesday, causing no casualties, xinmin.cn reported on Thursday.
Workers at the plant at an industrial park in the Songjiang district of the eastern metropolis were shocked by the sudden collision that came at around 3 a.m., local TV reported. The object has been handed over to the East China Regional Administration of the Civil Aviation Administration of China, which later confirmed it was indeed a plane component.
Photos posted by netizens on China's Twitter-like Weibo show the component as triangular in shape, with each side about 70 centimeters long, and with codes in its center.
Some netizens say, judging by the codes, the object is part of the main landing gear of a Boeing 777, though its loss has no safety implications for the plane.
