(ECNS) - A foreign man was caught on a surveillance camera Saturday dragging and throwing a four-year-old Chinese girl in a swimming pool in Beijing.
The girl was scared but not injured, according to reports.
The man, whose Chinese name is Su Ruiming, was seen dragging the young girl, known as Yuanyuan, by her legs with her head underwater at a community swimming pool in Beijing's Chaoyang district. Su then raised Yuanyuan high above his head and dumped her into the next swimming lane.
Su went on swimming without paying attention to the girl.
Yuanyuan was upset after the incident. Her mother, Mrs. Zhang, who was beside the pool when it happened, called the police.
Su initially refused Zhang's request for a written apology, but later admitted to behaving incorrectly.
"I was very angry. How can a child be allowed to swim all by herself without her mother supervising?" said Su, who explained that he was swimming in the lane and did not see the girl playing in front of him.
Su said he intended to apologize to Yuanyuan and Zhang in person and hoped for their forgiveness.
