(ECNS) -- A single cluster of edible mushrooms weighing approximately 150 kilograms has been found in a town in Puer, Yunnan province, Spring City Evening News reported on Sunday.

The giant mushrooms, with stipes on some as big as a man's arm, were found growing near a basketball court at a floorboard plant in Kangping town.

Bai Chun, a local restaurant owner, received a tip-off about the mushrooms from his friend who works at the plant and drove his pickup truck to the site, returning home with a full load on June 25.

He estimates that the total weight of mushrooms he had picked, alongside the remainder, could reach 150 kilograms.

Li Mengjie, a local mushroom expert, after viewing photos of the fungi, said that they are edible and taste delicious when served in a soup.

It is very rare for a cluster of such mushrooms to weigh as much as 150 kilograms, it was added.
