(ECNS) – The China Organizational Name Administration Center (CONAC) on Thursday launched a platform giving the public access to authoritative navigation services of China's complex network of Party and government organizations.

CONAC is a not-for-profit institution affiliated with the State Commission Office for Public Sector Reform (SCOPSR). Its mission is to provide foundational Internet technologies for the development of e-government and informatization services in China, according to its website.

A Red Cross "official website" that appears on a webpage of a commercial search engine can look like the organization's official site, but can actually be a phishing site created by hackers to steal personal information and money from users.

The opening of the search service will help users find their desired institutions and avoid being taken advantage of, the Changjiang Daily reported on Friday.

So far, 90 percent of China's Party and government organizations have had their websites certified and marked by guide.conac.cn, the newspaper reported, citing a SCOPSR staff member.

Users can search for information about an organization, including its official website, and check its identity by entering the website name or address.

Functions of the platform are still being improved as more information comes in, and all certification work will likely be completed within the year, the source told the paper.
