(ECNS) -- Police in southwest China's Yunnan province have detained 10 suspects involved in killing a giant panda and selling its meat, China Central Television reports.

Police also seized panda fur, 9.75kg of meat, four bones, and one gallbladder in Yanjin county, Zhaotong city of Yunnan province last December.

The victim was an adult female.

Endangered pandas are a first-class protected animal in China and beloved around the world for their striking black and white coats and charming behaviour.
