(ECNS) -- The Chinese government has warned non-store retailing businesses to be mindful of their promotional methods and not to practice unfair competition, according to a draft regulation.
The directive released by the Legislative Affairs Office of the State Council, China's Cabinet, started soliciting public opinion from May 6, local Beijing newspaper The Mirror reported.
The paper states that TV shopping program, mailing order, online store, phone order and automatic vending machine operators are prohibited from selling banned goods.
These retail businesses must not send promotional information to customers contravening rules on marketing.
Those who violate relevant rules or constitute acts of unfair competition will face severe sanctions, ranging up to criminal liability.
