(ECNS) - The Chinese government will open part of its weapons research and manufacturing to the marketplace, including military technology transformation and industrialization development, to promote industry resource sharing, the Beijing Times reported on Monday.
The State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense has issued a document on the transformation of Chinese weapons manufacturing. It stipulates that authorities will encourage the transfer of intellectual property rights related to the science and technology of the national defense industry and promote scientific achievements.
Priority has also been given to the nuclear fuel cycle industry.
The government will promote integrated military and civilian development, upgrade nuclear industrial technology capacity, and promote its application in the agricultural, medicine and environmental protection industries, the document added.
Authorities will also promote satellite resources and data sharing, enhance the core capabilities and advantages of the military industry, and participate actively in the strategic rising and hi-tech development sectors, according to the report.
