(ECNS) - A Chinese iPhone user known online as "Brother Orange" met with the original owner of his mobile phone at an airport in Jieyang, South China's Guangdong province, on Tuesday.

Brother Orange said "Welcome to China and my hometown Meizhou" to Matt Stopera, who responded with a Chinese greeting "nihao."

Surrounded by fans and reporters, the two then looked at the smartphone that brought them together across a long distance.

The Chinese man, in his 30s, earned the nickname after images of him standing in front of an orange tree showed up on Stopera's photo stream. Stopera lost his phone in New York in February 2014.

The images also included firework displays, menus, and a woman riding a motorcycle.

"Brother Orange" became a celebrity in China after the news was reported in the United States and later forwarded on Sina Weibo, a Chinese version of Twitter.

He runs a restaurant in Meizhou, Guangdong province, and has invited Stopera to "have a taste of authentic Hakka cuisine," including stuffed bean curd and raw fish.
