(ECNS) -- Baidu CEO Robin Lee has suggested starting a "China Brain Scheme" in 2015 to promote the country's development of artificial intelligence (AI), Beijing News reported on Tuesday.

The plan advocated by Lee, who is also a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), will focus on four important technological areas: intelligent human-computer interaction, big data analysis and prediction, automatic driving and piloting technology, as well as robot technology for military and civilian use. Regarding the involvement of the Chinese military, Li said, "We hope our country's military can allocate some funds to these vital projects and help promote the innovative capability of our nation."

Market mechanisms should be introduced to promote the conversion and sharing of quality AI research, to improve innovation in traditional and military industries, and to encourage the transformation of traditional fields to intelligent service sectors, it was added.

"Through this platform that our country has created, we will achieve more innovation with lower costs," Li stressed.
