(ECNS) - A man surnamed Zhang has been rejected by driving schools in Xiamen, east China's Fujian province because he has no fingerprints, Xiamen Daily reported on Saturday.

"The first step in the driving license application process is collecting an applicant's fingerprints," Zhang said, adding that he is unable to pass this step as he has no fingerprints on any of his 10 fingers.

Zhang suffered from serious palmar hyperhidrosis since his childhood, which caused the loss of his fingerprints.

Local driver training authorities advised that Zhang can apply for an IC card scan rather than fingerprint collection.

Chinese authorities collect fingerprints from applicants for issuing ID cards, driving licenses and passports.
