(ECNS) - A fox spotted in urban Beijing may have escaped from a local animal farm, according to an employee at the Beijing Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Center.

Pictures on the microblogging site Sina Weibo reveal the arctic fox as about 50 centimeters long, chubby and located near an iron fence.

The employee said the fur and skin of the fox are used in many products and that there are fox farms in the city, the Beijing News reported.

The worker said the center can help care for the animal, but that foxes don't make good pets and can carry diseases.
