(ECNS) -- In the absence of international tech giants like Apple and Microsoft, Chinese companies have dominated the 2015 international Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

Famous local tech giants such as Huawei, ZTE, TCL, Haier and Hisense, as well as several startups, grabbed the limelight at the 2015 CES event with their attractive booths and products, Beijing Morning Post reported.

Official figures showed that more than 25 percent of online exhibitors were from China. The common goal is to use intellectual property to break into the mainstream US market, according to an exhibitor.

Two decades ago, the spotlight fell on behemoths like Samsung and Sony rather than the lesser-known Chinese companies, as they dominated international attention.

However, Chinese exhibitors now take up half the core exhibition space, said Li Dongsheng, TCL CEO and group chairman.

Companies have been displaying wearable tech products such as a smart diabetes predictor belt, and a smart ring that acts as a remote control for mobile phones.

Smart TV has also come into vogue, with TCL announcing its first 4K LCD television.

The television industry is expected to welcome a 'no screen' era, where a single item of clothing or a wall could be utilized as such, according to Hisense.
