(ECNS) – A plane's emergency slide popped open at 21:05 Monday after China Eastern Airlines flight MU2331 from Xi'an landed safely at Sanya Phoenix International Airport, the Mirror reported.

"The accidental opening was caused by a passenger," reported netizens. Staff from China Eastern Airlines confirmed the accident to the Mirror and said no injuries occurred.

"A loss of over 100,000 yuan ($16,120) may result from the need to check and maintain the emergency slide and the cabin door. In addition, the plane cannot fly on schedule," said one expert.

This expert called for passengers to pay attention to preflight demonstrations made by stewards, particularly about the emergency door, which can only be opened under special circumstances.
