(ECNS) – A recent survey by HSBC shows that about one fourth of the foreign employees working in China have annual salaries of over $300,000.
The survey, conducted on 9,288 HSBC clients residing in 34 countries and regions, shows that higher pay and lower living costs have become major reasons why foreign employees are willing to relocate to China.
Of the 34 countries and regions, China ranked highest in terms of economic conditions, 26th for life satisfaction, and 12th for convenience of raising children.
According to the survey, 76 percent of foreign employees saw their purchasing power increase when they moved to China. Eighty-five percent said they were satisfied with China's economic conditions, and over half were optimistic of its future growth.
When it comes to life satisfaction, 53 percent reported better job opportunities, and 43 percent said they enjoyed a better social life in China.
Sixty-five percent said their children's education had improved in China, and 62 percent reported no stress in getting their children into good schools.
However, the result is not comprehensive, as most of the clients surveyed were high ranking corporate officials.
