(ECNS) – At least one hundred Chinese tourists have still been trapped on the Pacific island of Palau for three days after their flight was canceled for mechanical problems, the Beijing Youth Daily has reported.
Flight 2D8117 run by American Dynamic Airways, which was scheduled to take about 200 Chinese travelers to Hong Kong on October 23, was delayed, and then canceled the next day.
The airline has reportedly offered to pay each passenger $150 as compensation, but most passengers have spurned the offer.
Some travel agencies have managed to arrange flights for their customers. However, most flights to China have already been booked, said a director with the Beijing Youth Travel Service. He said flights between China and Palau are very limited.
One alternative is for customers to fly to Taipei, then back to Beijing with a transfer in Hong Kong, he added.
