(ECNS) – A sightseeing tower located near the south gate of the Olympic Park in Beijing will open to the public in a few months.
The tower, which has not been formally named, is the only sightseeing tower in the world composed of five independent towers. At 246.8 meters (810 feet) high, it will be the world's 22nd tallest tower and China's sixth tallest building.
On Monday, attendees of the opening ceremony of the Ninth Park Festival were invited into the tower as its first visitors.
The top of the tower gives visitors a bird's view of nearly half of the capital city, including the Olympic Park, the Drum Tower, the Palace Museum and the Fragrant Hill. It's next to the Bird's Nest and the Water Cube and has a construction area of about 7,000 square meters.
The tower is under construction and is scheduled to be completed by November before the APEC Economic Leaders Meeting opens in Beijing.
