(ECNS) – China has mobilized four satellites to work in the quake-stricken zone in Southwest China's Yunnan province, detecting and providing image data to support the rescue work, People's Liberation Army Daily reported.

The satellites, including resource and remote sensors, were deployed by the Xi'an Satellite Control Center soon after the quake. Wang Xinfeng, a director at the center, said they have sent hundreds of tele-control messages to the satellites since the quake.

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang is currently in the quake-hit area to supervise the quake relief work. Thousands of armed police, firefighters and soldiers, as well as eight planes, have also been deployed to the quake zone, Xinhua reported earlier.

A 6.5-magnitude earthquake jolted Ludian county of Yunnan on Sunday afternoon, causing over 400 deaths and 1,956 injuries.
