(ECNS) – Several photos showing Doraemon and Nobita, main characters from the famous cartoon "Doraemon," traveling through time to ancient China, have gone viral online, the Yangtze Evening Post reported.

The paintings were created by Wang He, a young artist at the Palace Museum in Beijing, who is an expert at copying ancient calligraphy and paintings.

Wang said the paintings Doraemon "traveled" to were those from the Song Dynasty and Qing Dynasty.

His idea for combining the old and new elements was to create a bridge between traditional art and modern aesthetic sense, and help the public get access to the elegant classics, Wang added.

Doraemon is one of the most popular Japanese cartoons in China. It has legions of fans ranging from the post-80s generation (born in the 1980s) to the post-00s generation (born in the 2000s).
