(ECNS) --The novelty experience of eating at 50 meters in the air costing 1,888 yuan ($303) to 8,888 yuan ($1,429) has won favor among rich Shanghai diners.

Dinner in the Sky, the movable restaurant famous for sky-high dining, has come to China for the first time. With cooperation from a Shanghai hotel, it will offer 14 breathtaking experiences over three days, starting on Friday, and most of the 308 seats have been booked, with only a few openings left.

Guests will enjoy a meal prepared by a world-famous chef on a platform, where there is a table with seats for 22 guests. On the platform, there is also an open space in the middle where the chef prepares the meal. There is also standing room for service crew.

Guests take their seats and buckle their seat belts, and then the platform is lifted 50 meters high in the sky by a crane-like machine.

Dinner in the Sky said they have operated in more than 30 countries, including the US, Mexico and Canada.

Such a breathtaking meal usually takes six hours, including the time for going up and coming down. But the timetable in Shanghai, according to the hotel, has been cut to only two hours.

It sounds more like a publicity stunt for the hotel, catering industry insiders said.
