Bora Milutinovic to coach Chinese fans soccer team

(ECNS) – Bora Milutinovic was invited to coach a fans soccer team to encourage Chinese soccer.

An event to recruit 11 fans for a soccer team called Mizone Team kicked off on June 15 in Beijing by 21st Century Media and sponsored by Mizone vitamin drink. The 11 fans need to have the same names as current or former players on the Chinese national soccer team.

Fans in China were disappointed that the Chinese soccer team didn't make it into the 2014 World Cup. The event was partly intended to beef up fans' confidence in Chinese soccer

"I hope we, along with the 11 young players who will stand out in this event, can form a team and do something for the upcoming games as well as Chinese soccer," Milutinovic said.

Milutinovic is considered legendary by many Chinese soccer fans. The only time China made it to the World Cup was in 2002, when Milutinovic was the coach.

Fans who qualify have been signing up online, and the Mizone team will compete with the fans team of the Brazil World Cup champion in July.
