(ECNS) – A map of Chinese provinces ranking them by their risk for an image crisis was released on Monday, according to Xinhuanet.

Based on 2,074 typical cases reported in 2013, Guangdong province faces the most severe image crisis, followed by Beijing, Henan, Shaanxi, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Hunan, Shandong, Hainan and Anhui.

The map is part of The Research Report on Image Crisis Response (2013-2014) issued by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

Image crises involve local public security, social order, ecological environment, public service, and the quality of officials, according to the report.

Tang Jun, the report's chief editor and chief of the Crisis Management Research Center at Renmin University, said the map, which points out dominant social risks during China's economic and social transition period, is intended to raise public concern for problems in social governance.
