(ECNS)-- A 16-year-old boy in Henan province has been arrested for murdering two girls and burning their corpses, the Dahe Daily reported on Monday.

The victims are both five-year-old kindergarten girls from a village in Xuedian town, Jia county of Pingdingshan city.

The girls went missing after they attended a wedding feast with their family at noon last Friday. The family said they lost contact with the girls after giving them money to buy ice cream.

At 11:30am on Sunday, police officers found burned body parts in a vat at the home of a teenaged boy who lived with his father and grandmother.

Forensic testing confirmed that the body parts belonged to the two missing girls.

The boy surnamed Lv confessed to strangling the girls and burning their bodies.

Police told the Dahe Daily that the boy stopped attending school long ago, and that a further investigation is underway.
