(ECNS) – Luxury watches, yachts, and private planes are essentials for Chinese rich, but real estate is still their favorite investment field, people.com.cn said, citing a recent report on Chinese rich.

The report said China has 2.7 million high-net-worth (HNW) individuals, with a net worth of at least $950,000, and 63,500 ultra high-net-worth (UHNW) people, with a high net worth of $15.8 million.

Sixty percent of HNW individuals are male, with an average age of 39. Their major investments are in real estate and stocks, and their interests in fixed-income investments appear to be increasing. They own an average of three cars and four luxury watches, and have 20 days off a year. Golf and swimming are their favorite sports.

The average age of UHNW individuals is 41, and men account for 80 percent. Their wealth mainly comes from transactions in ownership of enterprises. Besides investments in real estate and stocks, they also have interests in art investment and unlisted companies. On average, they have three cars and six luxury watches. As for relaxation, they prefer to golf.

The report also said 73 percent of Chinese rich favor shopping in Hong Kong. They spend some $24,000 on purchasing gifts, and watches are their preferred item.

In addition, over half of the rich bought watches last year. And among the ultra high-net-worth people, more are buying yachts and private jets.
