(ECNS) -- Two charging service areas for electric vehicles are being built along the expressway between Beijing and Tianjin to enable electric vehicles to drive between the two cities, according to a post Monday on the official Sina weibo account of Beijing Municipality's information office.

Tianjin is building the Xuguantun Charging Station and Dongli Charging Station and Beijing has also started construction on a station along the expressway. Charging poles will be built in the urban area of Tianjin.

Charging facilities will also be added to surrounding areas along the expressway between the two cities, the Beijing Daily said, citing Li Pengyue, general engineer on the Tianjin Science and Technology Commission.

Science and Technology Minister Wan Gang last Monday said that "The national campaign to develop energy-saving and new-energy vehicles will remain unchanged, and so will the priority for electric vehicles."

1st Tesla owners in Shanghai include CEOs' wives

The first batch of Tesla electric cars were delivered to Shanghai and Beijing amid a fanfare of the luxury car's debut. But unlike in Beijing, where all the buyers were male, most in Shanghai were female, the Shanghai Morning Post reported.
