Six students drown after abandoning leaky boat

(ECNS) – Six students drowned in Qilu Lake of Tonghai county, Yunnan province, on Thursday night.

Seven pupils, all boys, had rowed an abandoned fishing boat into deep water when the boat began leaking.

All seven fell into the lake but only one survived, rescued by police and the fishery department.

The accident is under investigation.
