(ECNS) – A man in Southwest China's Sichuan province has made a 3-ton tank that can start and fire shots for his 6-year-old son, Chengdu Business Daily reported.
Covered in camouflage, the tank, measuring 4.5 meters by 1.6 meters, and 2.1 meters tall, has a door on one side, and a turret that can rotate 360 degrees and fire shots.
Jian Lin, 31, said he spent two months and 40,000 yuan ($6,440) on making the tank. "The body is made of steel plate, the iron tires are from a harvester, the tracks are bought for 5,600 yuan, and the engine is from a pickup truck," he said.
Jian, who once served in the navy, said his son inspired him when he asked for a new toy tank.
He found a picture of a domestically made amphibious tank on the Internet, and tried to make it to scale. "I did it to realize one of my dreams, and give a huge and cool toy to my son," Jian added.
Jian said the tank was just his first project. "If there is a chance, I'd like to make an amphibious tank that can move underwater," he said.
