(ECNS) -- Pedestrian crossings and roads near the railway station in Lanzhou, Gansu province were covered with bricks scattered by angry shop owners involved in a municipal demolition project, people.com said on Thursday.
The bricks were thrown by commercial tenants of a building included in a demolition program, according to an official at the local police station.
Though the shop owners were informed about the demolition four years ago, they have refused to move out.
By nine o'clock in the morning all of the bricks had been cleared away. Traffic had also resumed.
A press conference is to be held to brief the media about the incident.
