Photo taken by a citizen surnamed Wang shows filthy blanket on sleeper train.
(ECNS)-- Online photos of unhygienic bedding on a sleeper train have caused disgust among many netizens, the Changsha Evening News reports.
A citizen surnamed Wang posted photos of a moldy white blanket with large yellow stains on a sleeper train from Fuzhou to Changsha. "The blanket felt damp and had an unpleasant smell," he later told reporters. "Passengers could get sick from it."
It's obvious that the blanket hadn't been aired or changed for a long time, he added.
Reporters interviewed more than 10 passengers at the exit of the Changsha Railway Station, most of whom expressed dissatisfaction about the condition of bedding on sleeper trains.
A passenger named Chen said the unpleasant smell of the blankets mixes with the odor of feet, mold and food. She said she wears a mask while sleeping and that she even broke out in a rash once.
A railway worker said the covers are washed after each trip, but the blankets are not discarded until they've been used for three years.
