(ECNS) -- An 86-year-old woman in Sichuan province has been waiting for her husband to come back home for 66 years after he was taken away by a gang of people in 1948, West China Metropolis Daily reported on Thursday.

Zhang Fuxiu and her husband Yang Shaoxiao were childhood sweethearts, and they got married in September 1948.

They lived in Bazhong city, Sichuan province, and her husband was taken away only four days after their wedding.

Zhang said she and the family didn't hear from Yang for a whole year.

In 1949, Zhang was remarried, to one of Yang's brothers, under her mother-in-law's orders.

Although Zhang and her second husband lived a peaceful life and brought up seven children, Zhang had never forgotten her first husband.

In 1985, a relative of Zhang told her that Yang has been working in a sanitarium of a military command in Chengdu.

But Zhang kept her feelings about Yang a secret. She didn't try to find Yang until her second husband died 10 years ago.

She told her story to her granddaughter, a college student in Chengdu, and asked for her help in finding Yang.

The girl tried to help find her "grandfather" by posting search notices online.

After her posts were noticed by the media, Western Media Group and a program team from CCTV decided to join hands and help the woman find her missing husband.

The team is still searching for Yang, and anyone with information about Yang is asked to contact the TV program group at (028) 96111.
