(ECNS) – A post of pictures showing a man teaching his parents how to use WeChat with hand-drawn directions has gone viral online and was forwarded tens of thousands of times, Chongqing Evening News reported.
Zhang Ming, 26, drew the surfaces of WeChat screens and buttons on each page and wrote notes to explain the functions of each button and their operation methods with colored pens.
The detailed directions in the 9-page manual have touched many netizens.
Zhang said he bought smartphones for his parents and planned to teach them to use the phones during the Spring Festival holiday. But when the holiday ended and Zhang had to leave home in Shandong province to go back to Beijing for work, his parents were still not familiar with operating the smartphones, let alone using WeChat.
"My parents called me several times a day to ask me how to operate WeChat after I went back to work, so I came up with the idea of drawing directions for them," he said.
Zhang's mother said Tuesday that she figured out WeChat with her son's directions. Besides receiving and sending messages, she and her husband can use the voice message service and check pictures their son shared on the platform, she added.
"With WeChat, I can talk with my son frequently and get to know what's happening with him instantly," she said.
