(ECNS) -- A viral video of a five-year-old girl protecting her mother from a violent attack has astonished netizens, Chinanews.com reports.

In the 1 minute and 22 seconds of footage, a man driving a Cadillac argues with a woman and then attacks her in an underground parking lot located in Xuzhou, Jiangsu province.

The man slapped the woman to the ground and hit her repeatedly in the head before the crying girl moved forward to protect her mother.

The netizen who posted the video said the woman had swiped the card slowly when leaving the parking lot, which angered the man driving behind her.

Chen called the police later and the case is under investigation.
