(ECNS) -- A large image of a subway station near a residential community in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, has fooled many would-be passengers, the Southern Metropolis Daily reported on Thursday.

Hung outside a community called "Baocuiyuan" in Tianhe district, the picture shows an image of the entrance to a metro station for subway line 6, which is still under construction.

Printed with metro signs, ticket barriers and elevators, the picture has a 3-D effect and looks like a real subway entrance from afar.

"I was tricked by the picture a few days ago while driving a relative to a railway station," said a resident surnamed Cheng. "We decided to take the underground to avoid traffic jams. I even stopped the car and unloaded all of my relative's luggage."

"However, upon closer inspection I found that the 'entrance' was actually a picture," Cheng said.

An official at the Guangzhou Metro Corporation responded that construction of subway line 6 is underway, but that no metro station named "Baocuiyuan" will be built near the residential community.

The corporation reserves the right to prosecute whoever is responsible for the fake picture, the official added.

A person in charge of the property management company at the community said he would report the case.
