(ECNS) -- A Chinese mother took out a full-page notice for her son on the front page of the Chinese Melbourne Daily on Tuesday, promising him that she will stop pushing him to marry.

The letter reads: "Peng, I've called you many times but couldn't get through. Maybe you can see it here. Your father and I will stop urging you to marry. Please come back and spend Spring Festival with us. Love you. Mom."

The woman, who lives in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, asked a man surnamed Miao to help her take out the ad, according to an employee at the Chinese Melbourne Daily.

"The son works in Australia after graduating from a local university. He has ignored repeated requests to return to China and marry," according to Miao.

The mother, after losing contact with her son, finally asked her friend in Melbourne to publish the notice in the influential Chinese newspaper.

"The couple decided to let it go and not push him anymore," Miao said. "They just hope their son can be safe and go back for Spring Festival."
