Man builds talking robot for companionship

(ECNS) – A 23-year-old man in Wuhan, Hubei province, has created a talking robot dog, the local Chutian Metropolis Daily reported.

The robot named "Pineapple V" is half a meter tall and resembles a puppy covered with wires. Once switched on, Pineapple V can have conversations with people and perform actions such as turning lights on and off.

The creator named Xia Chuan has spent half a year designing and assembling Pineapple V. "It will need another half year to complete her," said Xia. "Then she will be able to speak more words and perform more actions such as walking and shopping."

Xia created the first four generations of Pineapple in college. The first generation was a remote control car.
