(ECNS) -- The Hong Kong Independent Commission against Corruption (ICAC) launched a smartphone app to promote local residents' engagement in anti-corruption reporting, Wen Wei Po said on Tuesday.

The ICAC Smartphone App is a one-stop shop for the public to get access to the latest news and activities of ICAC. The app is now available on cell phones with iOS or Android operation systems.

With an investment of over 400,000 Hong Kong dollars ($51,590), ICAC spent one year on developing the app, whose target user group is the young working class in Hong Kong.

Besides the latest news and background information about ICAC, the app offers a 21-part micro-series that help app users learn more about anti-corruption reporting in Hong Kong.

The app also provides members with mini games. By playing the games and collecting game credits, app members can win promotional gifts from the Community Relations Department under ICAC.
