A 13-year-old male chimpanzee, reaches sexual maturity at around 5 to 7 years old.
(ECNS) -- Animal wardens at Shenzhen Safari Park are arranging blind dates for rare animals at the zoo on Singles Day, sznews.com reported.
The park is home to rare primates such as spider monkeys, black-and-white ruffed lemurs, snub-nosed monkeys, chimpanzees, and Francois' leaf monkeys, who are still living single.
Since most of these primates have been brought from other countries, it's difficult for zookeepers to pair them with mates.
The mate-less animals become cranky and suffer from poor appetite.
The safari park released a public mate-selection notice,in an effort to find proper mates for the animals from other zoos in China.
The notice includes basic information on sex, age and weight of the single primates.
For example, a mate-selection notice for a chimpanzee says, "A 13-year-old male chimpanzee, reaches sexual maturity at around 5 to 7 years old."
