Security guard puts many English-learners to shame

(ECNS) -- A security guard in east China has become an online celebrity after a video of him speaking fluent English went viral.

Sun Yongzhen, or Sunny, a security guard at the Wenzhou Medical University in Zhejiang province, speaks with an American accent and has become known for having friendly conversations with foreign students since he became a guard two months ago.

Sun said he quit school his first year of junior high to take care of his sick mother. But concern that he might appear "dumb" in front of foreigners drove him to learn English.

He said he became a security guard at the university because there are more than 600 foreign students there, many of whom have become his friends.

Sun said he has spent nearly 10 hours learning English every day, and watches many English movies and TV series.
