Teacher loses temper, asks pupils to slap each other

(ECNS) -- A primary school teacher in Shanghai asked the whole class to slap each other in the face and kept them from going to lunch, after getting angry at several naughty boys, Shanghai Morning Post reported.

A fourth-grade boy at Xiaokang Primary School in Qingpu district said their homeroom teacher, surnamed Li, was angry at several boys playing near the stairs and beat them.

Then the young teacher took his anger out on the whole class, keeping them from going to lunch and asking them to slap each other.

"The teacher himself slapped students who didn't slap vigorously," he said, adding that some students cried.

The headmaster of the school confirmed what the boy said, and added that Li's actions were too impulsive.

Xiaokang Primary is a private school that admits children of migrant workers, and Li won the title of Good Teacher last year.

Li said he was sorry about his brutal behavior and apologized to his students.

The local education department said the teacher has been fired and it would send psychologists to the school.
