(ECNS)-- Images of a wild Siberian tiger were captured by a freelance photographer on a mountain in northeast China's Jilin province last Saturday.

The pictures were shot by Wang Jinsheng near Madida village, Hadamen county, Huichun city of Jilin province. The pictures show a Siberian tiger roaming on a mountain road.

"I heard that some local villagers came across a Siberian tiger not long ago, so I expected that the tiger would come and roam in the area again," said Wang.

At 2 o'clock in the morning on Saturday, Wang drove for about two hours and reached Madida village, accompanied by his brother and a reporter from a local newspaper.

About 10 a.m., while they were walking down a mountain road, they sighted the tiger about 400 meters ahead of them walking up the mountain.

"I took pictures of the tiger with a Single Lens Reflex camera and a 400mm lens," said Wang. "Since the camera can shoot six pictures in one second, I finally got 15 pictures of the tiger within three seconds, after which, we ran away as fast as we could."

An official from the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) has confirmed that the Siberian tiger shown in the pictures was a real one.

It's the first picture of a real Siberian tiger taken with a camera in daylight.
