(ECNS) – A post on China National Radio's official Weibo account said passengers can charge their cellphones on China's air-conditioned trains beginning with next year's Spring Festival travel season, or Chunyun period, Beijing News reported.
Personal computers, electric shavers, and mobile chargers can also be charged, but portable stoves can't be, according to the post.
Zhengzhou Railway Bureau confirmed the post. A staffer at the bureau said outlets on air-conditioned trains from Zhengzhou to Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou have been available since Oct. 1, and outlets on other lines will be available from the 2014 Spring Festival travel season.
One outlet has been installed in each compartment of soft sleeper carriages, and three more in the aisle; hard sleeper carriages have three in the aisle and one in the conductor's chamber; but hard seat carriages have none in the seating areas, just one in the conductor's chamber, according to the staffer.
Passengers in the hard seat carriages can use the one in the conductor's room in emergencies, he added.
