Foshan (CNS) -- A fight broke out between Canadian-Jamaican Muay Thai kickboxer Simon Marcus and Chinese "KO King" Jiang Chunpeng during a news conference about the Chinese Kung fu vs. Muay Thai combat Thursday.
All 14 competitors from China, Thailand, New Zealand, Canada and other countries participated in the press conference held in Foshan, Guangdong province, including Marcus and Jiang. Their combat is considered the highlight of the coming competition.
While the half-clad duo was posing for pictures, Marcus struck Jiang with his fist, and Jiang struck back. Then they started fighting, throwing the press conference into disorder.
They stopped after the staff intervened, and Marcus said he felt threatened as Jiang approached him too close.
The organizer denied that the fighting was arranged beforehand to attract attention.
