(ECNS) – An ATM machine at a corner in Huanggu district of Shenyang, northeast China's Liaoning province, is nearly two meters off the ground, making it inconvenient for citizens of normal height, the local Liaoshen Evening News has reported.

"I can't reach the ATM," a woman surnamed Sun said. "Maybe people of Yao Ming's height can use it."

Even at 1.82 meters tall, a man surnamed Liu can barely reach the machine. After several attempts, Liu gave up trying to withdraw his money. "It's too taxing," he said.

"There used to be steps under the ATM, but they were removed sometime around August when a road project came through here," said Li, chief of a nursing home where the ATM is installed.

Li said he had offered ladders and benches to help citizens reach the ATM, but they were soon lost.

"People suggested that I should build a new step," Li said. "But it could block access for people in wheelchairs."

The best solution is to move the ATM to another place, Li added.
