(ECNS) -- A 93-year-old man has earned two degrees from the National Open University in Taipei, Taiwan, after 14 years of study.
The man named Lin Huazhi is a retired policeman in Taiwan's Chiayi city.
"When I was young, I didn't have a chance for a good education because my family was poor," Lin said at a commencement ceremony on Saturday, which coincided with his 93rd birthday.
Lin acquired a high school equivalency diploma before serving as a policemen. After his retirement, Lin applied to the National Open University in 1999, when he was 79.
It took him eight years to get a degree in social sciences, after which Lin spent another six years studying life sciences for his second degree.
"I want to continue my studies until I am 100," Lin said at the graduation ceremony.
