5-year-old boy sought to serve as West Lake envoy

(ECNS) -- The administrative committee of the West Lake scenic spot in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, is seeking a 5-year-old boy with strong green awareness to serve as "civilization envoy" for West Lake, according to cnhubei.com.

In August, the scenic administrative committee of West Lake embarked on a campaign to raise people's awareness of tourism civilization. Under the campaign, the committee is soliciting photographs with the theme of "civilization tourism".

A photographer nicknamed "zuo xie you chuan" (wearing the left shoe on the right foot) submitted a set of photos in which a 2-year-old boy goes to great lengths to throw an empty bottle into a garbage can.

The photographer recalled that it was three year ago when he shot the photos.

"I can still recall how hard the baby tried to throw the empty bottle into a garbage can," the photographer said. "After getting the plastic bottle from his father, the boy toddled toward a trash can, which is far away. He stumbled by a fence. However, the boy, who insisted on throwing the bottle in the trash can, just kept creeping forward on the grass and finally made it."

"I was astonished to see such a little boy can have such high green awareness, so I took photos and recorded the touching scene."

"Chatting with the boy's parents, I learned that the baby, nicknamed Dou Dou, was only 2 years old," the photographer added.

Dou Dou and his parents were from Wuhan, Hubei province. It was the family's first time traveling to Hangzhou.

An official from the committee said that if they can find the boy, the committee will invite Dou Dou and his parents to travel around West Lake.

The committee also said that it would give 5,000 yuan ($817) to Dou Dou for the positive energy he brought to the public.
