(ECNS) -- David, a Russian student at Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU), went viral online after his ID photo was posted on Weibo, China's Twitter-like website, and later was crowned "most handsome president of student union".

As the vice president of BLCU's student union, David talked about job-hunting in China.

He said that college students in China were too job-oriented. Some students start preparing for examinations to go abroad their first year at university, while others join university clubs just to seek more job opportunities.

"I can't figure out why Chinese students are so desperate to find jobs.

"One of my Chinese friends once complained to me about the grim job market in China.

"When I asked him what kind of job he was looking for, he told me he wanted be a lawyer, since it was a lucrative position.

"But the point is, he himself didn't understand what defines a good lawyer, so how could he know whether he would like the job or not?"

David said college students should try to find their own interest areas. Then they should work to become experts in these fields, after which, they can finally make contributions to society.

"So I suggest college students just focus on what they are doing now and do it well." he added.

David came to China when he was 16, and he now speaks fluent Chinese. He won the "Chinese Star" title during the 2012 "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Language Contest for International Students in China -- co-hosted by CCTV and Hanban (Confucius Institute Headquarters).
